The first few days after getting lash extensions are when simple habits make the biggest difference. Your artist's instructions always come first, but these are the most common recommendations for caring for your extensions.
On the first day or two
Many artists ask you to keep new extensions dry and away from steam for a while after your appointment, often 24 to 48 hours. Ask your artist how long to wait before your first cleanse.
Habits to avoid
- Rubbing or tugging your extensions.
- Oil-based products near the eyes, such as cleansing oils and some makeup removers, which many artists recommend avoiding with extensions.
- Mechanical eyelash curlers on your extensions.
- Sleeping face down on your pillow when you can avoid it.
- Skipping your cleanse once you are allowed to get your extensions wet.
Habits to keep
- Brush your extensions gently with a clean spoolie.
- Wash them daily, once your artist tells you that you can get them wet.
- Book your fills as often as your artist recommends.
If you notice irritation, redness or discomfort, contact your lash artist or a qualified professional.
